James Harvie gains title Master of Photography at The 2012 Australian Professional Photography Awards.

James Harvie … “I,ve been entering my prints into these awards for 8 years now since 2005. In 2007 I moved to Associate level with my ultimate goal of gaining my Masters. For years I have so much wanted to reach this goal as I marvelled at my peers work. Having now reached this level of work  from a career perspective I encourage other photographers to aspire to the same. Entering awards really makes you a better photographer. It pushes you to move out of your comfort zone and strive to be the best at your art. Its great as a marketing perspective and certainly will make you a better photographer which in turn will bring in more business . Photography is a gift so nurture and embrace it and be the best you can.”

WPPI Las Vegas 2011 – 3rd Place Winner landcape/Nature

WPPI Award
I’d read about the WPPI Awards held in Las Vegas USA for a while and like usual, procrastinated in entering. I’d seen some of the big players in the Photography industry win awards here and thought Id have a crack at it. Now this particular image had a lot of work done to it and after bombing out in the Victorian Professional Photographer of the year awards in 2011, I took note of the judges remarks. I was dumbfounded and so late one night, probably after too many red wines, I made some subtle changes. And bingo it looked great. So I entered it along with other prints ( yes they bombed, more work to be done there ) to test the water. 3rd place in the Landscape/Nature category for an International USA Photography competition. Well I’m totally stoked, wrapped, thrilled …. oh what ever… So thank you judges and friends for seeing the beauty and simplicity of this stunning image taken In Melbourne heading down towards the Peninsula. I hope you all appreciate its serenity in our fast paced competitive world. If by chance you want a copy shoot me an email james@harviephotography.com.au and I can get you a gorgeous canvas to hang on your wall.
