The Pool Deck wedding Photography at Rydges on Swanston – by James Harvie Photography

This was my 1sttime performing my wedding Photography talents at The Pool Deck at Rydges on Swanston with my client Monica and Chris. Unlike most of my weddings I’d never met my couple as they live in Perth.

In fact its not uncommon now having to conduct Skype sessions to chat about wedding photography to my clients as many are interstate or even overseas. In fact I must admit Skype is fabulous. I can even now plan a fine art wedding album with my clients completely online. Don’t get me wrong I do far prefer to meet in person at the studio but Skype can be helpful.

Everything was nice and easy, as both Monica and Chris got ready at the hotel. I was lucky to find some wonderful lighting in the hallway which really helped me create some fine lines. This worked perfect for Monica who wore a very classical dress. I was feeling great being able to create perfect composition.

The actual ceremony was held right on top of the building. The Pool Deck Photography at Rydges on Swanston delivers this amazing view. The venue is ultra modern with a pool of course, so you need to be careful with kiddies. A life guard was present.

The ceremony was late afternoon so we had amazing light. Between ceremony and reception we took off with Melbourne Premium Chauffeurs for some amazing location shoot fine art Melbourne wedding Photography in the Fitzroy Gardens. There is one spot between the trees in Melbourne’s Fitzroy Gardens which I absolutely love.

There is nothing more satisfying than seeing the smile on my wedding clients faces when I show them a shot I have just taken between these trees. The close up shots are good, but the Fitzroy Gardens shots which really blow them away are the big wide angle images. These are more pieces of fine art wedding photography where I help include the whole environment in the scene. This kind of image looks wonderful in your wedding album or mounted up on the wall. These are not cliché wedding images but rather pieces of art you can display for years to come. Black and white works perfectly for this.

After our location shoot we headed back to The Pool deck and began to capture the cocktail evening. The food was delish. The hamburgers here are amazing and I was lucky to get one. I do have a soft spot for a good gourmet burger.

There was some amazing traditional wedding dancing which always goes down a treat on camera as Melbourne Entertainment Services spun the tunes. If you can get the guests up and dancing this can create some epic images to keep. At reception I really love to just capture those really natural images showing laughter and fun. That’s what many clients want. It’s almost like a big wedding party. This is becoming far more popular than formal sit down weddings.

So I hope you all enjoy the sprinkling of images and a big round of applause to all the wonderful suppliers who came together to make this such a wonderful wedding.
